This song is how fangirls (and boys) are made.  The seventh track on his self-titled debut album is an invitation to be the princess to Bowie’s prince charming/knight in shining armor, complete with a castle and a slain dragon.  I accept.  🙂

When I Live My Dream is a plea from Bowie to the girl who has broken his heart to return to him.  It is a promise that if she returns, then they will live in his dream together, where she is “the starring role” and he loves her with all of the fairy tale romance cliches that one could imagine.  He promises that he will provide her with a castle and a golden horse, and that if necessary, he will slay dragons and banish giants to keep her safe.  In his dream world with her, the weather will always be nice and the trees will play to the rhythm of his music.  This is a man who really understands romance.  Take note, fellas.
